Hello all,
We had fun exploring our five senses this past week. Possibly our favorite was the Taste Samplings we held on Friday morning. The results are posted outside our door (next to our snack calendar).
Most everyone tasted most everything which included Salt, Sugar, Flour (need a neutral flavor), Brown Sugar (looks differerent), Lemon, Chocolate Chips, Whipped Cream, and a Chocolate-sugary-waffle-cookie. Is it a surprise that our class was the most energetic during our Kabbalat Shabbat Dancing? What is also fun to see is which tastes everyone liked or didn't like -- some loved most everything, some were hesitant to say that they liked anything. Lemon was the least favorite one (it was a fresh slice of lemon!) while Chocolate Chips left them clamoring (demanding!) for more. Not to worry -- they were teeny-tiny tastes ....
This next week, we will be celebrating Moms by looking at Moms and their precious little ones. We will begin by reading one of my favorites, "
Are You My Mother?" by P. D. Eastman. Naturally, the highlight of our week is the annual Becker Mothers' Breakfast on Wednesday morning. Moms, I hope you can all join us anytime between 8:30 and 9:30-ish this coming Wednesday -- or please send a guest-stand-in such as your child's grandmother, an aunt, a close family friend or neighbor (or even their Dad!). These Special Friends will be welcomed warmly (especially if you let us know ahead of time that they are coming). We have a craft to do with you and your children (involving some paint) and plan to have a short circle as well. It promises to be a fun morning.
Enjoy your week-end and this lovely crisp weather we are having. Is it really May in Houston??? May August be just as enjoyable (weather-wise, that is).
truly, Cathy & Elena
P.S. Moms, please let us know if you are unable to join us on Wednesday morning and also if you do not have another to send in your place. We will take special care of your little one - as always!
