We had enjoyed a splendid week (even with the dark and stormy Friday morning) exploring stories featuring Moms. Many enjoyed Are You my Mother? by P. D. Eastman while others were tickled with Eric Carle's Does a Kangaroo have a Mother, too? and The Mommy Book by Todd Parr. Of course the best day of all was Wednesday morning when we hosted all our Moms to breakfast in our class! Thank you again for coming! It means the world to our students to share their classroom with their Moms.
Friday's storm was thrilling as the sky was so dark that it was as if we were at school at nighttime! When we turned out the lights (to light the Shabbat candles before our challah and watermelon snack), the room was pitch black! Everyone was brave - and we cracked the bathroom door open a pinch to let a little light in (at least until the candles were lit!).We are finishing the sweet treasure boxes that our Moms painted with their children and hope to send them home to you .... soon!
The following Wednesday, May 22nd, will be our last day together. I hope you might be able to join us for our last social lunchtime on that day. We are thinking of having cheese pizza for our kids (how does that sound to you?) and possibly a light pot-luck lunch for parents/grandparents who may join us. Or we can do a class potluck for children too -- Let me know what you think and we will post a sign-up sheet outside our door.
truly, Cathy
