Hello everyone,
My turn on the family desktop is limited at the moment, but I wanted
to share this week's Peek. We will continue with Yom Kippur on
Monday, then we have no classes on Wednesday (in observance of Yom
Kippur) and return on Friday where we will begin learning about the
Sukkot holiday.
Please note that in honor (so to speak) of Yom Kippur where Jews
around the world will be observing a fast, Emanu El conducts a Food
Drive (in year's past called the 'Fast Food Drive') -- the food that
you would normally consume is requested as a donation in the form of
non-perishable items for the local hungry. On Monday we will be
sending home paper grocery bags that we ask you to fill with your food
donation (canned items, peanut butter, tuna fish, pastas, etc.).
Please return the bags any day this week and your donated items will
be added to the Congregation's larger Food Drive. The food will then
be given to one of Houston's Stop-Hunger organizations (the Houston
Food Bank or Search or ... I've forgotten which has been designated
for this year's recipient, but will share with you as soon as I
confirm who the lucky winner is).
Many thanks for sharing your precious ones with Elena and I. We do
enjoy every minute we spend with your children. (since no one seems
to hovering over my shoulder - 'when are you finished?' - I will add
my weekly recap now - oops, they just arrived. Stay tuned - more to
come!)
truly, Cathy
