Hello everyone,
We've been having fun exploring the farm. The kids keep cracking us up with their fascination at putting the zoo animals into our class barn! Elephants, giraffes, lions & tigers keep showing up with the cows and pigs. They are a funny crew of Toddlers and we love laughing with them (and at their antics!).
Today they learned about cows - they give us milk - from milk we can make milkshakes and We MADE Milkshakes today! Everyone scooped one scoop of (my favorite) Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla into the blender, then poured in a bit of milk -- after there were 12 scoops and 12 milk pours, Elena blended the mixture creating yummy milkshakes! A great compliment to the blueberry muffins brought by Charlie for snack (thank you Rachel!).
Another highlight today was the time some of the class spent in the Becker garden. One of our other Toddler classes has a grandmother who is a Master Gardener! She has been coming monthly to work in the garden with her grandson's class and with any other Toddlers who happen to join them. Today, many of our class were playing near the garden when she came and they followed her out the gate into the garden! They (Levi, Sam, Neeva, Ruby and others) helped pull overgrown broccoli (the broccoli, if left to flower is really pretty - but out they came). Once the broccoli was cleared out (a few remained as they were still growing little broccolis), the dirt was dug up and holes were dug (by Sam, Charlie, Ethan, Anil, Akhil and possibly more), then 12 small strawberry plants were planted (Sam, Reese, Charlie, Ethan, Levi ... my memory is foggy now!). Ask your child about it (then let me know who I left out ...). If any of you are gardeners too, we'd love for you to come and volunteer in our Becker garden -- or just to come help us explore it a little more). It was great to be outside again, even though it was a bit chilly. Note: Lunch ended with a little excitement, but I'm happy to report all is well. We believe it was just a bit of reflux gone astray .... as there were no repeat episodes, or fever or otherwise - whew!)
A reminder that this Friday, we will be having a special Kabbalat Shabbat with the entire Becker school at 11:15 a.m. All parents (and younger siblings, I believe) are invited to attend. Caroline Fiegel and Danny Jones will be performing/conducting the service. We are looking forward to it and hope you can join us (it's to last approximately 40 minutes, ending right at lunch time!).
Have a great day tomorrow and hug your precious ones for both of us!
truly, Cathy & Elena
