Re: Spring Break then Passover

Thanks Cathy!

I will try your crunchy vs. soft experiment today if Anil can't be torn away from playtime to eat!!!!  :)

Anil wishes you and everybody a fun spring break!

Take care,

Hello all,

Such fun we had with spring this past week, planting seeds, observing the growth of our celery plants, and much more.  The NAEYC inspectors visited Becker on Wed and Thurs - but they did not observe our class (other than returning from Arts Alive).  It is nice to have the visit over!

The fun thing lately in class has occurred during lunchtime:  we have been talking about loud, crunchy foods vs. soft, squishy foods.  The best part is when everyone gets very quiet to listen as someone 'crunches' their food for us -- or better is when everyone takes a 'crunchy' bite all together!  It started with some loud celery (plain or with peanut butter) crunching and munching done by Ms. Cathy.  If you are wondering why your child is interested suddenly in crunching loudly or in eating celery, now you know what started it!  We've also observed that veggie chips and crackers both have loud crunches while yogurt, sandwiches, pasta, many fruits, etc are softer, quieter foods to eat.  Some foods seem to crunch then get soft (think: apple slices).  I love how quiet 12 chatty toddlers can get when they are listening for a crunch!

Elena & I (& Xiang too) hope everyone has a lovely Spring Break, whether you remain at home or travel somewhere fun.  We return for a full week of classes on Monday, March 18th with a theme of "Passover".  Note that Wednesday, March 20th, is the annual Passover Seder -- parents are invited to attend our seder meal (I'll find out what time ours is and send another note closer to the date - maybe when I send the Passover Peek)

It is also time for our Second Parent-Teacher Conferences on Monday, March 25th.  We will have a sign-up sheet posted outside our door when we return from Spring Break (be sure to sign up for our class and not the Young Toddler class that meets in our room on Tues-Thurs!).

That's our news for now .... enjoy some lazy mornings, and pleasant weather days and we'll see you again in one week!

truly,  Cathy & Elena

PS  Non-Becker Side note:  Jazzercise is offering FREE week-end classes for the month of March.  At the West U Rec Center, I believe that Saturday classes are 8:00 am and 9:15 am;  Sunday classes are 9:15 am and 4:00pm.    Perhaps I bump into you there!
