Thank you everyone for celebrating a fun day for my birthday. I'm enjoying all the treats in my class gift (from the new coffee mug and chocolate espresso beans to the bottle of wine & everything else in between). Birthdays are a fun time, especially when shared with a crowd of two-year-olds (Haven't you discovered this to be true, too?)
I am so thankful to have each of your two-year-old sons and daughters as students in my class this year. I thought you would enjoy reading what they are all thankful for as well. But before I share, a little prep: How do you explain "thankful" to a young child? I started by asking each very directly "what are you thankful for?" and often was met with a silent look in reply. Then I asked "what do you have that you are glad that you have?" and was more successful with eliciting replies. A few had to be coaxed a little more still, while others popped up with a reply fast as can be. Their answers are precious! Enjoy ....
Serena is thankful for "buying skateboards!"
Ethan is thankful for "my Daddy's at work!"
Anil is thankful for "Leaves!"
Sam is thankful for "my house."
Reese is thankful for "Monkey and I love my Mommy!"
Charlie is thankful for "my baby sister."
Levi is thankful for "the Crescent Moon and the Circle Moon. Yea, the Crescent moon and the Circle moon."
Hazel is thankful for "Momma, Daddy and Mathis."
Neeva is thankful for "a Car." (a car?, I asked. Yes, a car she replied).
Akhil is thankful for "friends".
and Ruby is thankful for "my choo-choo train."
Eden was absent - but I am sure she is thankful for many special treasures too!
One additional note: When I was chatting with Serena and clarifying what she is thankful for (really, buying a skateboard?) Serena confirmed that she is indeed thankful for buying a skateboard. Then I asked if she had a skateboard? Can you guess her answer? It was: "No, but I want one!" said with a HUGE Smile!!!
Enjoy the remaining days of our long Thanksgiving holiday. Smother the ones you love with affection! Elena and I look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday.
truly, Cathy
PS a mini pre-sneak at our Peek at the Week: think Dinosaurs!!! (Did you hear they identified a new kind of dinosaur recently? Totally true! Quiz may follow .... ;^) and the actual Peek will definitey follow!
