Hello all,
I'm running late this week, so to catch up a little, I am sending two peeks at once! One for this week and one for Monday of next week (the Thanksgiving holiday break begins next Tuesday! yes - already!!!).
We will continue exploring the fall season and begin Thanksgiving as well. The children had fun doing some "spray painting" on Friday (the first phase of building our turkeys ...). They plucked corn kernels off of ears of corn (deer & squirrel feed) and examined curious acorns and other tree seed pods (thank you for sharing -- especially to Ms. Elena for bringing in the really odd ones. Feel free to send more this week, if you can!). Since it seems to be "the Year of the Acorn", we may add a new Science project -- but I will not reveal more .... just yet.
With the crisper days, we may extend our time outside (whenever possible) as it is the best time to be outside in Houston. Don't you agree? Our Tzedakah quarters-pennies are getting low, please send a few more on Friday.
Also we have a few children running low on wipes &/or diapers (I will send a separate email -- keep meaning to put in on the My Day forms - but time slips by too fast!)
Those that stayed to nap on Friday were great hosts and hostesses -- our room became Nap-Room-Central as two other classes brought their nappers to our room (so that we could have a Toddler Team Level meeting). I can happily report that everyone (yes, indeed Everyone!) took a nap on Friday! (even two guests that have not napped all year!). We don't expect this to happen very often (possibly once a month) and appreciate those leaving at noon, leaving promptly so we can get the visiting nappers in quickly and lights out even faster (it was a tad crazed on Friday - but only for a couple of minutes ... really).
I hope everyone's enjoying the weather, and are not getting bonked on heads too often by the millions of acorns Houston trees are dropping on us this year. (We did get a few acorns-bouncing-on-heads while at recess this past week, causing more surprise than injury!)
Apologies for running late with this week's Peek .... Ms. Elena and I are looking forward to seeing your smiles in the morning.
truly, Ms. Cathy
